What Is Mold ?
Mold is a microscopic fungi that lives on animal or plant matter. There are too many types of mold to list here and scientists believe that we have not discovered all the different types of mold that exist. However current data indicates that there are at least 250,000 typesof mold or more. Most mold is what scientists call "filamentous" or (threadlike) organisms. Mold produces spores and these spores can be distibuted by insects, air and water.
Unlike bacteria that are one-celled, Mold is made up of many cells and under a microscope look like skinny mushrooms.
Spores give mold their color if a color even exists. Airborne (mold) spores spread from place to place like seeds blowing in the wind. Mold can be a serious health threat if undiscovered and treated at it's source.
Where Can Mold Be Found ?
Mold can be found in bascically all environments, both indoors and outdoors all year round. Mold thrives in warm and humid damp conditions. Mold can also be found in shady, damp areas and near vegetation.
Can Mold Cause Illness ?
Mold can cause allergic reactions and respiratory problems. Some molds produce poisonous substances that promote skin rashes, headaches, shortness of breath, fever, fatigue and other cold symptoms.
